چکیده

Abstract This paper reports new hierarchical cementitious composites developed using microcrystalline cellulose (MCC), sisal fibers and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) as the dispersing agent. MCC was dispersed in water without with CTAB at different concentrations ultrasonication optimum concentration for achieving homogeneous stable suspensions found to be 40%. Hierarchical were fabricated (0.1–1.5 wt% of cement), (20 mm, 0.25% 0.50 40% tri-butyl phosphate defoaming Mechanical strengths improved significantly 0.1 MCC, which along 0.5% compressive flexural by ~ 24% 18%, respectively. The hybrid reinforcement exhibited a synergistic effect on fracture behavior improving energy up also showed fiber-matrix bonding, lower porosity absorption, superior hydration, carbonation resistance durability 90 ageing cycles.

Study on Mechanical Properties and Constitutive Equation of Hybrid Fiber Reinforced Cementitious Composites Under Static Loading

Abstract: The Quasi-static mechanical properties of hybrid fiber (steel fiber and Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fiber) reinforced cementitious composites (HFRCC(SP)) were investigated by compressive and tensile experiments. The compressive strength, peak strain, elastic modulus and tensile strength are studied as compared with that of engineered cementitious composite (ECC). Study results indicate th...

Self-Healing Capability of Fiber-Reinforced Cementitious Composites for Recovery of Watertightness and Mechanical Properties

Various types of fiber reinforced cementitious composites (FRCCs) were experimentally studied to evaluate their self-healing capabilities regarding their watertightness and mechanical properties. Cracks were induced in the FRCC specimens during a tensile loading test, and the specimens were then immersed in static water for self-healing. By water permeability and reloading tests, it was determi...

Statistical Behaviour of Hemp and Sisal Fiber Reinforced Polypropylene Composites

The use of vegetal fibres in thermoplastic matrix is increasing mainly because of their opportunity to recycle the structures. An another advantage is to provide materials for developing countries were these fibers are abundant. Nowadays, a lot of studies are more focused on the fibers to understand their microstructure and to establish their mechanical properties [1,2]. One of the main results...

Assessment of the Mechanical Properties of Sisal Fiber-Reinforced Silty Clay Using Triaxial Shear Tests

Fiber reinforcement is widely used in construction engineering to improve the mechanical properties of soil because it increases the soil's strength and improves the soil's mechanical properties. However, the mechanical properties of fiber-reinforced soils remain controversial. The present study investigated the mechanical properties of silty clay reinforced with discrete, randomly distributed ...

Characterization of Epoxy Composites Reinforced with Wax Encapsulated Microcrystalline Cellulose

The effect of paraffin wax encapsulated microcrystalline cellulose (EMC) particles on the mechanical and physical properties of EMC/epoxy composites were investigated. It was demonstrated that the compatibility between cellulose and epoxy resin could be maintained due to partial encapsulation resulting in an improvement in epoxy composite mechanical properties. This work was unique because it w...
